by Ronny for everyone
Hey guys, maybe we can organise tennis tournaments both for our residents and also an Open for outsiders to take part too? When i was studying in SP, we organises yearly tournaments, there is a novice Open for students who are beginners, a SP Open for both students and Staffs to take part, also we have inter-poly matches. Maybe we can have a core committee to organise such tournaments. Let me know if anyone share the same idea. =)

I am definitely "open" for a OPEN. problem is we need
- sponsorship for prizes and balls (this is the most sticky, we could get participants to pay a registration fee...)
- referees
- fix dates (we could look at 1-2 day event to finish it all), otherwise we would have logistical nite mares.

once we have this open, we can pick the winners to represent us against other condos.

I am also in favour of having a 2 days event. Maybe we should pick one of the saturday and sunday morning and afternoon to run this tournament.

Ronnie, can you get your poly or army kaki to be the referees?

I think balls is not a problem if we can get the registration fees collected to pay for it. One can of PENN balls is only $6. 3 to 5 cans should be sufficient to run the tornament if it is only 2 days events.

For the prize, get someone to sponsor wilson ncode racket or a cash voucher of $200 to make it attractive..

Hi guys.
I am BK (Beng Koon). I use to play with my tennis kakis in Regentville. About the prize money, that is not so important. We, at least in Singapore, need to instill strong interest in the game. MInd you, I paid $48/- to participate in one of the STA tourneys only to be knocked out in the 1st round !!! We need to have many matches, competitive or otherwise, to raise our level of play. Hopefully, this way, more will participate and hopefully, somebody in the sporting business take notice of its success and maybe, who knows, will sponsor us.Take heart, things will come its way. Let's get the Open open.
